Stitch Pottering About, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a little wren perches on an upturned flower pot beside purple pansies.

A little stitcher's folklore: the wren is one of Britain's smallest birds but has one of the loudest songs for its size.

Why this kit: based on artwork by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs, it is stitched on Aida printed with Bothy Threads' exclusive speckled background, so the soft Wrendale look is ready-made.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida printed with Bothy Threads' exclusive Wrendale Designs speckle, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the wren, pot and pansies in cross stitch from the centre, then add the outlines in back stitch.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A charming garden piece for a greenhouse or kitchen.
