Stitch Spreading Sunshine, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — daisies, clover and wildflowers grow in a meadow as a bumblebee and ladybirds visit.

A little stitcher's folklore: bumblebees can fly in cooler weather than honeybees, so they are often the first pollinators out in spring.

Why this kit: Hannah Dale's loose, watercolour-style animals translate beautifully into stitch, and the printed speckle on the Aida gives the finished piece its signature Wrendale feel.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida printed with Bothy Threads' exclusive Wrendale Designs speckle, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the flowers in cross stitch from the centre, then add the stems and bee in back stitch and the French knots.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A cheerful floral piece for any room.
