Stitch Season's Tweetings, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a round robin nestles among white Christmas roses in a terracotta pot.

A little stitcher's folklore: the hellebore is called the Christmas rose after a legend that it sprang from the tears of a shepherd girl with no gift for the infant Jesus.

Why this kit: based on artwork by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs, it is stitched on colour-printed Aida and was first released in Bothy's Season's Tweetings Sew-cial Club box.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida with a colour-printed background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the robin and flowers in cross stitch from the centre, then add the outlines in back stitch and the French knots.

Finished size: 18×23 cm (7.1×9.1 in). A small festive piece, first released in the Sew-cial Club box.
