A little stitcher's folklore: Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Flight of the Bumblebee' was written for an opera in which a prince turns into a bee to visit his father.

Why this kit: from Bothy Threads' long-running Wrendale Designs range by Hannah Dale, it matches the rest of the collection if you want to build a gallery wall.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the bee and tulips in cross stitch from the centre, then add the wings and stems in back stitch.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A cheerful spring piece for a garden lover.
