Stitch Crackers About Cheese, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — three little mice peep over a big wedge of holey cheese beside two crackers.

A little stitcher's folklore: mice actually prefer grain and sweet things to cheese; the idea comes from farmhouses where cheese was stored where mice could reach it.

Why this kit: a Wrendale Designs favourite by Hannah Dale, it is a 26 cm square design full of character, with plenty of expression to bring out as you stitch.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, some fractionals and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the cheese and mice in cross stitch from the centre, add fractionals where shown, then the whiskers and tails in back stitch.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A fun piece for a kitchen or a cheese lover.
