Stitch Rockin' Robins, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — five round robins sit in a row along a twig beneath a sprig of mistletoe.

A little stitcher's folklore: kissing under the mistletoe once came with a rule: pick one berry for each kiss, and stop when the berries run out.

Why this kit: based on artwork by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs, it is stitched on Aida printed with Bothy Threads' exclusive speckled background, so the soft Wrendale look is ready-made.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the robins in cross stitch from the centre, then add the feathers and branch in back stitch and the French knots.

Finished size: 39×18 cm (15.4×7.1 in). A long, festive piece for a mantelpiece or over a door.
