Stitch Mother Duck, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a mother duck leads a line of fluffy yellow ducklings across a speckled ground.

A little stitcher's folklore: ducklings follow their mother in a line because they imprint on her within hours of hatching.

Why this kit: a Wrendale Designs favourite by Hannah Dale, it is full of character, with plenty of expression to bring out as you stitch.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida printed with an exclusive speckled background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, back stitch and a few French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the ducks in cross stitch from the centre, then add the outlines in back stitch and the French knots.

Finished size: 38×18 cm (15×7.1 in). A long, gentle piece for a hallway or above a door.
