Stitch Winter Waddle, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a family of penguins in woolly hats and a red scarf pull a sledge of presents under a starry sky.

A little stitcher's folklore: emperor penguin dads balance the egg on their feet through the Antarctic winter while the mothers go to sea.

Why this kit: based on original artwork by Jane Sunner, it adds Lana woolly thread for the scarves and hats and metallic thread for the stars.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida with a colour-printed background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, metallic thread, Lana woolly thread, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch, and couching. A frame is not included.

Stitch the penguins and sledge in cross stitch from the centre, then add the outlines in back stitch and couch the woolly details.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A festive, fun piece from the Autumn 2025 Collection.
