Stitch Farmyard Friends, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a green tractor sits among a cow, sheep, pig, pony, dog, cat and hens, each with its own noise written beside it.
A little stitcher's folklore: 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm' first appeared in print in 1917, though versions were sung long before.
Why this kit: based on original artwork by Kate Garrett, each character is labelled with its name in back stitch, which makes it a fun one to stitch for children or animal lovers.
Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.
Stitch the animals and tractor in cross stitch from the centre, then add the lettering and outlines in back stitch and the French knots.
Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A fun piece for a child's bedroom or playroom.
