Stitch Howling Hounds, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — dogs dressed as a pumpkin, a vampire, a little devil, a ghost and more line up with a broomstick under a full moon, bats and stars.

A little stitcher's folklore: the Black Shuck is a ghostly black dog said to roam the lanes and coast of East Anglia.

Why this kit: in Karen Tye Bentley's style, it is stitched on winter blue Aida with silver star sequins in the night sky.

Kit includes: 14-count winter blue Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, silver star sequins, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the dogs in cross stitch from the centre, add the outlines in back stitch and the French knots, then sew on the star sequins.

Finished size: 30×22 cm (11.8×8.7 in). A fun Halloween piece for dog lovers.
