Stitch A Pawfect Place by the Water, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a figure in a bobble hat sits with their dog at the end of a wooden jetty, looking over a still pink lake to the mountains.

A little stitcher's folklore: Windermere is England's largest natural lake, about 11 miles long.

Why this kit: based on original artwork by Lucy Pittaway, it uses fractional stitches for soft reflections, and a matching needle minder is also made.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, fractionals and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the sky and water in cross stitch from the centre, add fractionals where shown, then the jetty and figures in back stitch.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A calm piece for walkers and dog lovers.
