Stitch Xmas Deer, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a deer in a red Nordic jumper stands among holly and birch trees beside the words 'Jolly Xmas'.

A little stitcher's folklore: Christmas Jumper Day, held each December since 2012, raises money for Save the Children.

Why this kit: based on original artwork by Karen Tye Bentley, it is a quick festive stitch that is mounted straight into the brown triple-fold card, ready to post. Lana woolly thread gives the jumper a cosy texture.

Kit includes: 14-count misty blue Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, metallic silver thread, Lana woolly thread, a brown triple-fold card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitch, back stitch and Lazy Daisy. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.

Stitch the deer and jumper in cross stitch from the centre, then add the back stitch and lazy daisies, and mount the finished piece in the card.

Finished size: 10×10 cm (3.9×3.9 in). A jolly card that can be framed afterwards.
