Stitch Scandi Deer, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a grey reindeer with golden antlers stands among green leaves, sprigs and gold sparkle.

A little stitcher's folklore: reindeer are the only deer in which both males and females grow antlers.

Why this kit: part of Bothy Threads' Scandi Christmas card series, it pairs a simple silhouette with green foliage, gold metallic thread and beads for a modern Nordic look.

Kit includes: 16-count winter blue Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, metallic gold thread, beads, a cream card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches and back stitch. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.

Stitch the reindeer and foliage in cross stitch from the centre, then add the back stitch and gold antlers, sew on the beads, and mount the finished piece in the card.

Finished size: 10×10 cm (3.9×3.9 in). A Nordic-style card for the festive season.
