Stitch Polar Pals, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a polar bear in a red jumper with a sprig of holly sits beneath the words 'Happy Christmas'.

A little stitcher's folklore: a polar bear's fur is not really white; each hair is clear, and the skin underneath is black.

Why this kit: designed by Jenny Barton, it is a quick festive stitch on winter blue Aida with Lana woolly thread for the fluffy trims, mounted into a cream triple-fold card.

Kit includes: 16-count winter blue Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, Lana woolly thread, a cream triple-fold card mount and envelope, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, back stitch and one French knot. The card mount frames the finished stitching, so no extra frame is needed.

Stitch the polar bear in cross stitch from the centre, then add the lettering in back stitch and the French knot, and mount the finished piece in the card.

Finished size: 10×10 cm (3.9×3.9 in). A cosy card for a bear lover.
