Stitch The Queen, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a fluffy bumblebee with gauzy wings spreads out against a blue background.

A little stitcher's folklore: the old custom of 'telling the bees' says beekeepers must share family news with their hives, or the bees will leave.

Why this kit: from Rachel Froud's The Menagerie range, it is stitched on Aida printed with a full-colour background, so the vivid backdrop is ready-made and all the stitching goes into the animal.

Kit includes: 14-count Zweigart Aida with a full-colour printed background, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the bee in cross stitch from the centre, block by block, then add the wing details in back stitch.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A bee-utiful piece from the Summer 2024 Collection.

    This is a great kit. It was well packaged and delivered in a timely manner. The instructions are easy to follow and there is an ample supply of good quality thread so no fear of running out. I am enjoying working on it.
