A little stitcher's folklore: in Japan, cranes are said to live a thousand years, and folding a thousand paper cranes grants a wish.

Why this kit: part of Sally King's Shoe Art Collection, it turns a fantasy high heel into a whole scene, with beads adding to the blossom.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, beads and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and one French knot. A frame is not included.

Stitch the shoe and bonsai in cross stitch from the centre, then add the back stitch, the French knot and the beads.

Finished size: 25×24 cm (9.8×9.4 in). A peaceful piece for a lover of Japan.
