Stitch All Hallows' Party, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a tall boot becomes a spooky house, with a witch on a broomstick, bats around the moon, pumpkins and black cats.

A little stitcher's folklore: All Hallows' Eve, the night before All Saints' Day, gave us the word Halloween.

Why this kit: part of Sally King's Shoe Art Collection, it turns a fantasy high heel into a whole scene, with metallic thread for a ghostly glint.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, metallic thread and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the boot in cross stitch from the centre, then add the outlines in back stitch and the metallic details.

Finished size: 17×28 cm (6.7×11 in). A fun and elegant Halloween piece.
