Stitch Britannia, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a Union Jack shoe sweeps past St Paul's Cathedral, with a red double-decker bus, a Beefeater and ravens along the way.

A little stitcher's folklore: legend says that if the ravens ever leave the Tower of London, the kingdom will fall.

Why this kit: part of Sally King's Shoe Art Collection, it turns a fantasy shoe into a whole scene, stitched on fine 16-count Aida and packed with London landmarks.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the shoe and landmarks in cross stitch from the centre, then add the back stitch and French knots.

Finished size: 28×20 cm (11×7.9 in). A proud piece for any lover of Britain.
