Stitch Gossamer Slipper, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a slipper made of lacy spider webs holds pumpkins, spiders and a black cat curled at the toe.

A little stitcher's folklore: 'If you wish to live and thrive, let a spider run alive' is an old English rhyme.

Why this kit: part of Sally King's Shoe Art Collection, it turns a fantasy high heel into a whole scene, with metallic thread making the webs shimmer.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, metallic thread, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches and back stitch. A frame is not included.

Stitch the slipper in cross stitch from the centre, then add the web lines in back stitch and metallic thread.

Finished size: 21×28 cm (8.3×11 in). A spooky yet elegant piece for autumn.
