Stitch Christmas Cottage, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a red-brick cottage with a holly wreath on the door stands in the snow behind a garden wall, with a line of white geese marching past.
A little stitcher's folklore: a goose was the traditional British Christmas dinner long before the turkey took over.
Why this kit: in Sally Swannell's detailed style, it adds sparkle thread and beads for a frosty finish.
Kit includes: 16-count ice blue Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, sparkle threads, beads, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: full cross stitches, back stitch and a few French knots. A frame is not included.
Stitch the cottage in cross stitch from the centre, then add the back stitch and French knots and sew on the beads.
Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A cosy piece to bring out every Christmas.
