Felt Theodore with this Charivna Mit needle felting kit — a round, plush-looking orange tabby cat sitting with its front paws crossed over its belly, blue eyes and fine whiskers, and a cream-tipped tail curled at its side.

Why this kit: the felt pieces create a soft dimensional finish; the templates and stitch guide make the project approachable; the finished ornament or hoop art is easy to display or give as a handmade gift.

Kit includes: instructions, color scheme, New Zealand Ashford wool in 3 colors, Preciosa Ornela beads (Czech Republic), wire, and felting tips (2 pieces). Made in Ukraine.

Needle felting is worked by layering small tufts of wool and repeatedly poking them with a barbed felting needle, which tangles the fibers together and gradually compacts and shapes them into a firm 3D form. Work section by section — the round body, head, and crossed paws, reinforced with wire — following the included instructions, then set the bead eyes and whiskers once the base shape is complete.

Finished size: 12 x 10.5 cm (4.72 x 4.13 in). A charming 3D project and a cozy handmade gift or collectible for a cat lover.
