Stitch March Bouquet, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — a garden border of the first spring flowers: pink and yellow tulips, white narcissi, purple crocuses, blue grape hyacinths and pink hyacinths, with butterflies flitting between the stems.

A little stitcher's folklore: gardeners say the first crocus of March brings a week of good weather, and a bunch of spring bulbs on the table chases away the last of winter.

Why this kit: a fresh, happy spring design packed with favourite garden flowers. It's a lovely piece to stitch through late winter and hang when the days grow longer.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Anchor 100% cotton threads in 48 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the tulip heads at the top, then work down through the narcissi and hyacinths, and finish with the crocuses, butterflies and green stems using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 28×30 cm (11×11.8 in). A spring picture for the hallway or kitchen and a cheerful gift for gardeners.
