Stitch Poppies and Butterflies, a counted cross stitch kit by Luca-S — two bright red poppies open among blue cornflowers and fine grasses, while three dark butterflies with blue-edged wings flutter around them. Fresh and summery on white Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: red poppies and blue cornflowers growing together in the wheat were said to promise a golden harvest, and a butterfly on a poppy was a sign of summer love.

Why this kit: a bright summer meadow design that looks wonderful framed in a kitchen or conservatory and makes a cheerful gift.

Kit includes: 16-count white Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), Luca-S 100% cotton threads in 41 colours, a needle, a symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the red poppy petals, then the blue cornflowers, and finish with the butterflies and grasses using the symbol chart.

Finished size: 22.5×31 cm (8.9×12.2 in). A bright meadow picture to frame and a lovely summer gift.
