Stitch Looking for You, My Fish, a counted cross stitch kit by RTO from the There Were Cats series — a fluffy dark cat bundled up in a navy coat and a big checked scarf peers out with golden eyes as snow falls around it. Worked in DMC stranded cotton on 14-count grey Aida.

A little stitcher's folklore: a cat sitting with its back to the fire was said to mean frost was on the way. Stitchers say this one has wrapped up warm and gone to find its supper.

Why this kit: if you love cats and cosy winter designs, this bundled-up kitty is quick and full of character. A lovely gift for cat owners, and a set with the other There Were Cats kits.

Kit includes: 14-count grey Zweigart Aida (100% cotton), DMC stranded cotton in all the colours you need, a needle, a colour symbol chart and instructions. A frame and hoop are not included.

Start with the golden eyes and face, then the fluffy dark fur. Finish with the checked scarf, the navy coat and the falling snowflakes.

Finished size: 15.5×22 cm (6.1×8.66 in). A cosy winter cat picture to frame and a charming handmade gift.
